Chat in Soundcheck keeps conversations attached to the work they’re about. A discussion about tonight’s load-in lives on tonight’s gig — not buried under unrelated texts.

Two flavors of chat

Per-gig threads

Every gig has a dedicated chat thread. Open the gig → Chat tab. Use it for:
  • Confirming load-in time with the crew.
  • Coordinating who’s bringing what gear.
  • Quick “I’m 10 min out” check-ins from the road.
  • Posting the photo of tonight’s setlist for the back line to see.
Because the thread lives on the gig, anyone added later sees the full history.

Direct messages

DMs are for one-off conversations that don’t belong to a specific gig — checking in with a sub, asking a venue contact a quick question, talking to a sponsor lead. Open the chat icon in the sidebar (web) or the chat tab (mobile) → New message → search for the person.

Mentions

Type @ and start typing a name to tag someone. They’ll get a push notification (mobile) and a notification in their Mailbox (web). Mentions work in both gig threads and DMs.
Use @here in a gig thread to ping everyone currently staffed on the gig.

Attachments

Drag a file into the message box, or tap the paperclip icon on mobile. Supported types:
  • Images (JPEG, PNG, HEIC)
  • PDFs
  • Common document and spreadsheet types
Attachments uploaded to a gig thread also appear in the gig’s Files tab.

Mobile vs web parity

Privacy

  • Direct messages are visible only to participants.
  • Gig threads are visible to anyone staffed on the gig and to organization owners/admins (gig records are organization data).
  • Deleted messages remain visible to admins for a short retention window for moderation purposes.
