# What is Soundcheck?

> Soundcheck is a live event operations platform for bands, production companies, and crews — what it does, who it's for, your Home landing page, and how the pieces fit together.

Soundcheck is a **live event operations platform** — it brings together everything you need to plan events, staff and schedule crew, build setlists, and manage clients, in one system across web, mobile, and AI assistants.

***

## The problem we solve

Running live-event work means juggling moving parts that don't naturally live together:

* Tracking upcoming gigs across venues and clients
* Coordinating band members and crew schedules
* Building and sharing setlists for each performance
* Managing business inquiries and converting them to bookings
* Keeping everyone informed with the right information at the right time

Soundcheck consolidates these into a single workflow that keeps you organized and your team aligned.

## Why we built Soundcheck

The deeper reason is laid out in the [Soundcheck Thesis](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/soundcheck-thesis-steven-tran-8zpyc/): as AI makes execution abundant, **trust becomes the scarce resource**. Soundcheck turns reputation in live event work from perception into verified contribution — every gig coordinated through the platform is a record of who did what, with whom, when.

## Your first landing: Home

After you sign in, you land on **Home** — your personalized, org-scoped starting point. Home replaced the old Dashboard and adapts to your role and plan:

* A **greeting** and quick actions (Create Gig, Add Lead, Invite Team, and more — whichever you have access to)
* **At a glance** stat tiles — gigs this month, upcoming gigs, pending payouts or invites, crew responses
* A **recent activity** feed pulling together gigs, leads, crew offers, and payments
* A **finances** roll-up for roles with financial access, on plans that include it

<Note>
  Brand-new workspace? Home shows a **Get started** checklist instead — a few guided steps (create a gig, invite crew, complete your profile) that check off as you go.
</Note>

## Mailbox

Anything waiting on a response — an invitation, a crew offer, an availability check, or an onboarding prompt — lands in **Mailbox**. They all share one inbox so you never hunt across separate lists.

* Every member has a personal **My Mailbox** inbox (from the avatar dropdown).
* Owners, admins, and gig coordinators also get **Mailbox** at `/org-engagements`, which aggregates the whole org.

## Web vs mobile

Soundcheck runs on both — same data, same account, optimized for different moments.

| When you're...                                                              | Use                                                              |

| Building a gig, importing data, working leads, configuring your org | **Web** ([app.soundchecklive.io](https://app.soundchecklive.io)) |
| On the road, at a venue, accepting an invitation, reading tonight's setlist | **Mobile** ([install](/features/mobile/installation)) |

The web app has every feature; mobile is intentionally read-and-respond focused. See [Mobile app overview](/features/mobile/overview) for the parity table.

## How organizations work

* **Organizations** represent your band, agency, production company, or solo act.
* Each has its own gigs, setlists, teams, and settings.
* **Members** can belong to multiple organizations with a different role in each.
* **Roles** (Owner, Admin, Gig Coordinator, Member) control what each person sees and does.

## What you'll see in the sidebar

The sidebar groups features into a few sections. **Home** and **Gigs** sit at the top for everyone; admins also get **Mailbox** pinned above the groups.
